At the Champions of the Future Euro Series in Muro Leccese, Italy, the OTK Kart Group’s ‘engine division’ triumphs in the OKJ class, with the fastest time in the qualifying heats, and a first place in the chrono trials of OK class.
OKJ – Vortex dominates the weekend in Muro Leccese, which sees a total of 93 drivers at the starting grid. Our engine immediately secures the pole position, thanks to Antonio Ianni (Tony Kart Racing Team), who sets a time of 1:03.873 in the qualifyings. The qualifying heats, meanwhile, end with a total of four wins, one podium finish and six fastest laps. Adding further to the total haul is the victory in Super Heat 1 on Saturday morning.
Julian Frasnelli (Tony Kart Racing Team) is author of a flawless final: he gets away smoothly from the pole position, maintains the lead from the very first corners and controls every phase of the race, crossing the finish line first. The Italian driver, with his first victory in the “Junior” category, also leads the overall standings with a total of 100 points.
Oiva Vettenranta (Tony Kart Racing Team) gains four places from his starting position, sets the third-fastest lap of the race and finishes in the top 10. Also taking part in the final are Jean Poujol (Tony Kart Racing Team), Ianni and Emerson MacAndrew-Uren (Tony Kart Racing Team).
OK – In a category featuring 90 drivers, Vortex immediately stands out with the pole position in the qualifyings, thanks to the fastest time of 1:02.939 set by Jindřich Pešl (Tony Kart Racing Team). The engines from the OTK Kart Group’s ‘engine division’ finally obtain five wins, two top-three finishes and four fastest laps in the qualifying heats, as well as first place in Super Heat 1.
Starting from the pole position, Pešl soon takes the lead in the final, after which he remains constantly involved in the battle for the top positions. The Czech driver secures a top-five finish at the end of the 24 scheduled laps and now occupies third place in the championship with 80 points, eight points behind the leader.
Thomas Pradier (Tony Kart Racing Team) performs at his best in Saturday afternoon’s race with a comeback of not less than eighteen places, securing a top-10 finish. Ilie Tristan Crisan (Tony Kart Racing Team) and Endo Arata (Tony Kart Racing Team) finish behind the French driver.
