Here is the large selection of 25 drivers who will wear our colours in the main international competitions in the MINI, OKJ, OK and KZ/KZ2 classes.
Everything is ready for the new 2022 international racing season. Our Tony Kart Racing Team is preparing for an ambitious and demanding challenge: to repeat the many successes achieved in the year 2021, which ended with the double world victory in KZ and OK categories of the FIA Karting World Championship.
As usual, the race calendar is full of engagements, with events signed by FIA Karting, RGMMC and WSK Promotion, all to be faced with our new Tony Kart Racer 401 RR - for the KZ/KZ2, OK and OKJ classes - and with the renewed Tony Kart Rookie, for the MINI category. The "powertrain" department, as usual, will be entrusted to Vortex, the engine division of the OTK Kart Group.
As for the drivers, Noah Milell will defend our colours in the KZ/KZ2 category in 2022 too. The reigning World Champion is joined, once again, by Lorenzo Camplese, vice World Champion just behind his Swedish teammate, and by the experienced Simo Puhakka. Even the Luyet brothers, Jean and Samuel, will still be part of our Racing Team, as well as Juho Valtanen, after his attendance in the FIA Karting World Championship OK at Campillos in 2021. Promoted from the OK category, Alexander Gubenko is ready to make his debut with the shifter karts. Finally, they are joined by the 2018 European Champion in KZ2, Adrien Renaudin.
The OK category sees Tuukka Taponen lined up on the front row. The Finnish driver, reigning World Champion, will again be joined by the very fast Joseph Turney, already vice world champion in 2020. After having raced with us for several races in the second half of the 2021 season, Keanu Al Azhari is running again on board our Racing Team this year. As well as Oscar Wurz and Ruiqi Liu, who will be permanently racing with our sports division. They will be joined by two promising newcomers: Luigi Coluccio, vice World Champion OK 2021, and Kuba Rajski.
Also our "platoon" for the OKJ category will be numerous. James Egozi, who has been steadily growing during the year 2021, which ended with the win of the WSK Open Cup title, is getting ready for his second year in the "Junior" category. Jimmy Helias took a step forward from the MINI category during the 2021 season and, with the experience gained, will aim at the top steps of the ranking. Jan Przyrowski will still be wearing our racing suit this season, as will Enzo Tarnvanichkul: the two young drivers are ready to show all their worth. Many are also the new faces: Alp Aksoy takes part, for the first time full time, in the category; Arthur Dorison is for the second year in OKJ class; Maria Germano Neto joins our team as part of the Junior Girls on Track - Rising Stars programme, in cooperation with the FIA Women in Motorsport Commission and the Ferrari Driver Academy; Giacomo Pedrini, selected by the Scuola Federale ACI Sport "Michele Alboreto" to take part in the ACI Sport 2021 Karting Stage, will complete the “junior” line-up.
Last but not least, is the MINI category, represented this year by Vladimir Ivannikov and Ethan Lennon. In his Curriculum Vitae, the Russian Ivannikov boasts a victory and two third places in the WSK Euro Series, finished in second position, and will be still fighting for important results in 2022. The South African Lennon, already at the start with our colours in several events in 2021, is confirmed full time for the year 2022.
The start of the 2022 season is set at Lonato (January 27th - 30th) with the opening round of the WSK Super Master Series.
