The arrival of the new MINI international class has represented an important challenge for the IPK Group. The result of the work performed is the new Praga Karts Monster EVO 3, a chassis full of improvements.
THE CHASSIS
The Monster EVO 3 chassis is composed by 28 mm diameter tubes which form a double curve at the height of the fuel tank. The rear bearing housing, which houses the axle bearings is new, bringing the possible height adjustments to four. The master cylinder support features a casing as well, a solution which allows a better alignment with respect to the pedals and an increased rigidity. Additionally, the tubes to which the front and lateral fairings are fastened to have been shortened and reduced in diameter. The result is a chassis free from tension which was created once the fairing support was affixed. As always at IPK, all tubes are manually welded by highly experienced technicians.
BRAKE SYSTEM
The Monster EVO 3 brake system is also newly homologated, yet always faithful to the IPK philosophy according to which all accessories must be machined from a solid piece of material and cared for in the smallest of details. Exactly like the new caliper equipped with 4 pistons, the same used for the front brakes of shifter karts. The work of IPK technicians focused above all on modularity, or in other words, on reducing the locking risk, essential in a category which rewards drivability. Furthermore, depending on their driving style, drivers can choose amongst three different braking pads. The SOFT (green colored), featuring a softer material for strong braking even with little pressure on the pedal, the MEDIUM (red colored), fitted as standard and the HARD (blue colored), for those accustomed to press hard on the brake pedal. The brake disk, on the other hand, has a diameter of 149 mm and it is floating and self-ventilated, with holes for heat dissipation and grooves for keeping the pads clear of debris.
ACCESSORIES
In the accessories department, the new multi-adjustable pedals machined from a solid piece of 7075 aluminum alloy definitely stand out. Their main feature is that they are adjustable in 4 different positions, with 5 fastening points for the brake rod and 2 for the accelerator cable.
At the front end, we find the CCS system made by IPK to adjust camber and caster separately while being further simplified to facilitate the modification of the geometries. The rear end is equipped with the new highly smooth C5 bearings (but a ceramic version is also on the way), equipped with three fastening grub screws on the axle to improve grip. The new silencer support is adjustable and is no longer integrated with the rear bearing housing, as well as the plate for the fastening of the battery support. Both have been designed to leave the chassis as “free” as possible.
The fuel tank and the steering wheel are new too. The first accessory has a capacity of 4,5 liters, designed for the Rotax categories, while the steering wheel features a handle in silicone material to increase grip and it is supplied as standard with an inclined hub.
NEW FAIRINGS AND NEW LIVERY
Among the numerous innovations, we cannot forget to mention the most obvious, the new MK20 fairings by KG. Thanks to a revised shape compared to the past, the driver’s protection and the aerodynamic penetration have been significantly improved, as well as the overall weight of the kit including the supports which is now 500 grams lighter.
Furthermore, the new fairings feature a brand-new livery in which blue, the color which has always been dominant on the karts by Praga Karts, is placed side by side with the silver color and the carbon effect.
