The new MINI 2020 approvals, required by the CIK-FIA to give a single international regulation for the whole category, were the occasion for CRG to present the new Black Mirror. The chassis, developed on the track directly by the CRG Racing Team, flanks the New Mini Hero model, already present in the past with national approvals, revised above all in relation to the accessories. The Black Mirror is different at the front, where the side stringers form a double curve between the area where the seat is located and the "C" of the stub axles, unlike the New Mini which has only one curve.
The Sniper is mounted on the "C" spindle, one of the most used systems for adjusting the geometries at the front of the kart. CRG mounts it on all of the group’s chassis, to underline the importance that the set-up regulation also has in the Minikart class. The main strength of the Sniper system is to allow independent adjustment of the caster and camber. The seat attachment is a new concept, made with two bushes welded to the chassis to which to attach adjustable brackets depending on the position of the seat. The system allows a decrease in tension created during fitting and makes the chassis freer in the central area. Another advantage compared to the classic system where the bracket is welded directly to the seat is that the bracket can be folded over several times without risking the development of cracks or breakages on the chassis.

In addition to being one of the major brands that manufactures chassis, CRG has an important tradition also regarding braking systems, thanks to the VEN product line. The VEN 12 is mounted on the Black Mirror, which is the Italian manufacturer’s latest approved system. The brake has a self-ventilating and floating steel disc that is 162 mm in diameter and a forged caliper with two half-shells machined with a C.N.C machine. The brake master cylinder is traditional and it is the same as that mounted on higher class chassis. The introduction of the VEN 12 is aimed at providing more modular braking, an important feature to avoid blocking the wheels when braking and to ensure the smoothest possible driving. On a practical level, this means greater speed around the bends and shorter lap times.

The Black Mirror is inspired by higher class karts not only due to the shape of the chassis, but also for the high-quality accessories fitted as standard. As well as the braking system, there is also a 34 cm diameter steering wheel, designed to maintain a correct driving position: in fact, this model’s thick spokes obliges you to place your hands in the upper part (in the classic “9 and 15" position). The fairings are also new: lighter than in the past, they allow weight optimisation by improving the centre of gravity.
From an aesthetic point of view, the kit of stickers which incorporates the graphics of the CRG 2020 models, distinguished by a more glossy orange colour, should be emphasised. The matt black of the chassis as well as the fuel tank, a distinctive feature of the CRG chassis, is the same.
