The new Gold chassis for the Mini class represents a revolution in terms of geometry, materials, and components. It took months of testing to reach the final version of the new and improved Hurricane , but the result...exceeds all expectations.
The new chassis has been engineered to yield optimal tire performance. This explains the choice of a new metal composite for the frame, as well as a wholly revised geometric set-up. The longitudinal tube to the right of the seat has gone from straight to curved and runs parallel to the main right tube. The main longitudinal tubes now curve twice (instead of once) in the section that connects front and rear end and the bar below the seat has been brought forward on the right side to create less of an oblique angle. In addition, both ends of the chassis feature a reduced track width: from 608 to 602 mm in the rear and from 636 to 630 mm up front. The wheel base is still 950 mm, but the total length has gone from 1354 to 1362 mm. Last, but not least, while the bearing carrier supports are the same as the original chassis, the steering column support has been redesigned for optimal performance.
REAR END
We want to highlight the significant modifications that Gold Kart has introduced to develop the rear end of the new Hurricane, which range from new axle bearing cases and new axle stubs to a wholly re-engineered brake system. Lighter and more efficient, the brake assembly features a steel floating disc that is 170 mm in diameter, with a wavy edge and surface slits to help with ventilation and pad maintenance. In addition, the six drill holes at the base make the component extremly light-weight without compromising its top performance standards.
