The new engine submitted for 2016 approval by Severi Racing Kart, the company from Maranello (MO), is the result of more than a years’ development: it’s the SR216X.
Studied in detail, compared to its predecessor it has significantly improved driveability and progression in the delivery of torque. All this translates into an engine that is easy to use, with plenty of power at low speeds and, above all, in relation to the gear change (at 10,000 RPM this engine has 4.4 HP more than its predecessor, the GA210). All this without reducing the power at high revs, which has actually been increased as well.
The weight reduction has led to a more compact design, also improving its aesthetic appeal.

The most innovative idea in the new SGM SR216X is the cooling system that combines the effect of water with the air. The liquid flowing into the cylinder up to the crankshaft has an increased heat exchange thanks to the flow of air through the external opening between the central crankcase and the clutch unit. In this regard, the design of the engine’s base causes the air to channel inwards, increasing its flow rate and significantly reducing the temperature on the clutch.
Another important new feature compared with the old GA210 is the cylinder that, although it outwardly looks the same as its predecessor, actually has different transfer ducts and geometries: the new direction has improved suction and maximized performance.
The following are other important aspect introduced with this approval: the closed crankshafts; a crankshaft with 7 holes and renewed aluminium/copper/tungsten balance; a newly designed sprocket and main gear wheel; the carbon reed valve pack with 4 petals with an option for 6 petals; the exhaust with a new geometry; the new combustion chamber and the piston at zero degrees.
