NEW IAME SUPER X30: 43 CV!

TKART Staff
24 October 2016
With the design finished in 2015, the new Super IAME X30 saw the start-up of the new single-brand category dedicated to it in 2016. At the IAME International Final of Le Mans, TKART focused its gaze on the details of this super engine.

In 2014, at the height of testing the new engines requested by CIK that led to the development of the OK engines, TKART had the opportunity to track test what was then only a Iame concept: a 175 cc engine derived, basically, from the KF. (Read all about it in TKart no. 25 - December 2014).

This concept is now a 175 cc, 43Cv and 26Nm of torque reality; it’s called the Super X30, and has its own category in the IAME single-brand championship. A class aimed at high level drivers who wish to accumulate experience and training to aspire to a career in motorsport and have budgets that make them able to compete both in the CIK-FIA and WSK Championships, as well as the single-brand championship. With this solution, IAME has avoided the disadvantage that often happens of drivers with different budgets and experience running in the same class, allowing the X30 Senior class to remain "popular", without having to come to terms with super professional drivers (to whom the Super X30 dedicated).

This year, the Super X30 started in Italy, France, Belgium and Portugal, has had a great response from the public and has been very successful with those enrolled in the International Final.

In realising the Super K30, IAME’S main objective was to combine the high performance of OK engines with the ease of use and comfort of the X30. In fact, the Super X30 is totally different from the X30, except the wiring and the centrifugal dry clutch necessary to make it a TAG engine.
One of the challenges Iame faced was also to eliminate the exhaust valve, a component that is often difficult to adjust and too tied to carburisation, in any case obtaining high performance levels.
Finally, when representing a single-brand class, the concept of durability of the Super X30 components is fundamental. IAME has confirmed that it is on a maintenance level between the OK, which requires, also for the type of user and category, more frequent maintenance, and the X30, whose strong point is, among other things, precisely the life cycle of the engine and reduced maintenance. The goal, as soon as possible, is for the Super X30 to reach the sa\\me servicing intervals as the X30.
