Race day is a crossroads of emotions and challenges for every kart driver, of any level. It is an event where an incredible amount of challenges (beyond "just" driving) are concentrated: choosing the right strategies, defining the optimal set-up according to track conditions, coping with unforeseen events... To be able to manage any situation without risking losing the "right course," all official teams establish their own operational method and routines to rely on in each of the different phases of race day. We followed closely, step-by-step, the official Kali Kart team for shifters karts at the 2023 KZ2 FIA Karting World Cup (held in Wackersdorf, Germany). We went under the tent of the CRG racing department that was hosting the team, to closely follow driver Jorge Pescador and his mechanic during Sunday at the ProKart Raceland circuit. With them, we delved into all the fundamental aspects of dealing - under pressure - with the different track conditions (tire pressures, set-up changes and... Much more!), making the most of the reduced times that the regulations impose, in a well-articulated preparation road map that began well before race morning. And we tell you about it.
