5 ESSENTIAL ACCESSORIES TO IMPROVE THE COOLING OF KARTS

When taking to the track in extreme environmental conditions, both in terms of high temperatures or intense cold, the thermal management of some components of karts becomes essential to maintain optimal performance. In fact, elements such as the engine, brakes and tyres are particularly sensitive to temperature variations and require the adoption of specific measures to ensure correct operation. At ambient temperatures above 30°C, the risk of overheating increases significantly. If heat is not dissipated effectively, which can lead to performance losses and, in the most extreme cases, mechanical failure. To counteract this problem, it is essential to make the most of the air flows generated by the kart in motion, improving the ventilation of the components most exposed to overheating. This can make the difference between a kart that maintains optimal parameters and one that loses performance due to excessive accumulated heat. There are several accessories on the market designed to improve heat dissipation: we offer you 5 of them, costing from 20 Euros to 82 Euros. Some are specific to better manage air-cooled engines (such as many of the MINI 60 cc, or larger engines, such as those of the BMB brand used in the Easykart Trophy); others are useful for cooling the rear brake caliper, still others... Air conveyor for MINI engines

In MINI karts with 60 cc air-cooled engines, thermal management is a key aspect to ensure consistent performance and protect the mechanics from overheating. Unlike liquid-cooled engines, these engines dissipate heat exclusively through the air flows generated by the movement, but some areas are covered by other components of karts and this makes it difficult to cool (to learn more, read “True or False | Kart engine cooling: 6 quizzes on differences, advantages and disadvantages between air cooled and liquid cooled engines”). This regards the crankcase, covered by the intake filter and the fairings. This situation leads to thermal build-up which can negatively affect the efficiency of the engine, especially in the warmer months. To improve heat dissipation, KG has developed an air conveyor specifically for the MINI 60 cc engines. Designed on the basis of CFD analysis, this accessory optimises the flow of fresh air to the crankcase, the most critical area in terms of cooling. The increased ventilation reduces the risk of overheating, helping to maintain more stable temperatures throughout track sessions and ensuring greater consistency in performance. Installation is simple and does not require structural modifications: the kit is supplied with specific supports that allow it to be fastened both to the chassis, in front of the engine plate, and to the intake silencer. The conveyor is designed to be compatible with the KG Tornado intake silencer, but, according to the manufacturer's website, it can also be adapted to other models available on the market.
