In shifter karts, changing the braking balance between the front and rear axles while driving is an activity that is rarely performed. If the weather changes during the race and it starts raining, there is a need to change the brakeforce distribution towards the rear. This activity is certainly not convenient because it forces drivers to move their left hand towards the brakeforce distributor, located at the same level as the brake pumps, taking their eyes off the track. The innovation by Kart Republic, seen by TKART at the 2020 KZ World Championship, but still under development, is a system that varies the distribution on two positions by acting on a lever and using button fixed on the shift rod.
In one position, a distribution shifted further to the front is set, standard setup for the shifter categories, while in the other the brakeforce distribution is adjusted, mainly affecting the rear. This allows the driver to change the braking distribution before fast bends, where less aggressive braking is needed, and then return to the standard braking setup in the other bends. All this without losing concentration or taking your eyes off the track.
