THE VARIOUS TYPES OF CHECKING BENCHES FOR KART CHASSIS

TKART Staff
19 October 2021
The kart chassis is continuously stressed while driving. A curb taken too aggressively or a contact with another kart on the track can, however, cause an excessive flexion of the body, which comes out of its elastic range to undergo a plastic deformation, in other words one that is too bad to allow the material to return to its original state. However, chassis can be checked using checking benches, which combined with other fundamental accessories such as marking gauges and supports for axles with pads, can become of fundamental use in order to repair a chassis without having to buy a new one. How do you use the checking bench? In a nutshell, you have to rest the axle on the special supports and then use the gauge to measure the difference in height between the front C of the chassis (if you want to know more read the article "How to… Check a chassis before a race”). Having said that, let's see some checking bench models.

STATIC STEEL CHECKING BENCH

This is the most classic and traditional of benches. It consists of a metal bar structure, with attached supports for the front "C". The structure can be dismantled, so it can be transported even if it is perhaps the least suitable of those we will see. The model examined is produced by the OTK Kart Group. It is sold without extra accessories except the axle holder, therefore without brackets useful for chassis straightening activities.
