Over the years I have overseen developments at Tillett Racing Seats. We have tested all suitable materials: fibres, weaves, and resins with all the products available on the market. Despite the multitude of composites off the shelf, we still have the resins mixed and the fibres woven specially to suit our requirements, done to give us the correct fiber density, orientation, and performance consistency. We learnt early on that expensive carbon did not mean going faster, although it could perhaps save a little weight, and we also learnt that concrete kerbs make a mess of even the most bullet proof Kevlar. By far the biggest changes in performance seen was in the way the seat flexed.
