After the publication of the article “How to prepare the mixture for karts”, many subscribers to TKART Magazine wrote to us submitting several concerns about the oil for the mixture used in 2-stroke kart engines. We contacted Nunzio Carbone (owner of Exced, a company featuring 40 years of experience with oils, lubricants and additives. We passed along all the questions you sent us. From Nunzio’s answers, we put together 3 episodes of “True or false” dedicated precisely to the oil for the mixture of kart’s 2-stroke engines. Here is episode number 1.

Well done!
Wrong!
The oil intended for the completion of two-stroke karts’ mixture (find out in the following article How to prepare the mixture), regardless of whether they are vegetable, semi-synthetic or synthetic, are products with specific components that guarantee you very high lubrication performance and combustion time. Kart engines (100 cc and 125 cc, both single speed and shifter), unlike other 2-stroke racing engines apparently stressed in the same way as motorcycles, are subjected to non-stop enormous mechanical stresses and very high levels of rpms. All this requires the use of a specific oil to be manually mixed into the fuel in a percentage dictated by the engine manufacturer. In the same way, some excellent oil intended for karting proves to be ineffective when used with non-kart engines. If we used kart oil for a lawn mower engine mixture, after cutting the lawn I do not think we would like the smell of smoking castor oil and what is created during the combustion phase, a complete disaster!
