The always iconic Italian kart circuit of Sarno is the venue of the second round of European KZ, KZ2 and Academy championship. Today the drivers already had an important role on track as the qualifying practice took place for all three categories.

KZ: Lorenzo Camplese gets stronger at Sarno

Like it happened in WSK some months ago, Lorenzo Camplese (Tony Kart/Vortex/B’stone) once again took the pole position in KZ class with a lap-time of 56.279 seconds. The Italian beat compatriot Alessandro Irlando (Birel Art/TM Racing/B’stone) by a minimal gap of 0.041 seconds.

The KZ class once again showed an incredible competitive class with the top 18 drivers finishing 5 tenths away from Camplese.

Championship leader Anthony Abbasse (Sodi/TM Racing/B’stone) finished in top4 just behind Simo Puhakka (Tony Kart/Vortex/B’stone), while Spanish Pedro Hiltbrand (CRG/Iame/B’stone) completed the top5 positions in a very warm weather condition.

KZ2: Palomba takes dominant pole position

The KZ2 qualifying had to be spread in three groups, David Vidales (Tony Kart/Vortex/B’stone) was the quickest in the first qualifying group. The Spanish driver in his second year in KZ2 was only 0.090 seconds quicker than Emilien Denner (Sodi/TM Racing/B’stone).

But Vidales lap-time, was improved in the following qualifying series. The Dutch driver Senna Van Walstijn (KR/TM Racing/B’stone) improved the pole position lap-time by two tenths, and so did the same Valentino Fritsch (Birel Art/TM Racing/B’stone).

But it was qualifying series 3 who defined the pole sitter in the class. The Italian duo of Giuseppe Palomba (Croc Promotions/TM Racing/B’stone) and Giacomo Pollini (Formula K/TM Racing/B’stone) beat Van Walstijn’s lap-time by 2 tenths. Palomba with a lap-time of 56.418 seconds dominated the qualifying group and took the pole position for tomorrow’s qualifying heats.

Academy: Christian Ho once again on pole position

Like it happened at Wackersdorf, Christian Ho (Exprit/Vortex/B’stone) took the pole position in Academy Trophy. The Singaporean driver beat by a minimal gap of 0.030 seconds the Kiwi driver Jacob Douglas (Exprit/Vortex/B’stone).

The top3 was completed by Ukrainian star, Oleksander Partyshev (Exprit/Vortex/B’stone). Championship leader Robert De Haan (Exprit/Vortex/B’stone) finished fourth overall despite been the quickest in his qualifying group.

Tomorrow most of the qualifying heats will take place. Those one’s will be key in KZ and KZ2 class with the championship title yet to decide this Sunday.
