The World KZ Champion and reigning European KZ2 Champion, Sodikart has started this new season with a level of performance as high as ever. At the opening round of the WSK Super Master Series on the La Conca circuit (24th-26th January), the recently CIK-FIA homologated Sodi Sigma chassis already claimed its first podium with Mattéo Spirgel at the wheel. There were a total of six Sodi chassis in the top 10 in the Final, with pole position for Senna Van Walstijn, victory in the Prefinal for Mattéo Spirgel and the fastest lap in the Final for Maksim Orlov. Once again, the collaboration between the French factory and the CPB Sport team proved fruitful.
The La Conca circuit, with its special track layout and resin-coated asphalt that enhances kart grip, is renowned for bringing out the best in chassis, and the Sodi-TM packages were perfectly suited to the southern Italian track. For Sodikart and the CPB Sport team, it was an ideal warm-up to launch the 2025 season, as CPB team manager Paul Bizalion explained:
"Many of them have renewed their confidence in our team, and the off-season has enabled us to bring in new drivers, so that we have a magnificent line-up of 12 drivers for this first round of the WSK Super Master Series. Admittedly, some teams didn't make the trip, but we were up against some worthy rivals and clearly demonstrated our competitiveness.”
From pole position to the podium
The first day of official competition got off to the best possible start on Friday, with Mattéo Spirgel setting the fastest time ahead of Senna Van Walstijn in the final free session before Qualifying. The two drivers then confirmed their positions, but in reverse order, with Senna taking pole ahead of Mattéo. Kasper Schormans was also 5th. Spirgel regained the lead at the end of the heats and confirmed it with victory in the Prefinal.
Leader at the start of the Final, the French European Champion was trapped by his rival in one of the circuit's hairpins and lost two places in the manoeuvre.
"The three drivers then drove at a similar pace, with no real possibility of overtaking. Of course, we would have liked to have won, but Mattéo Spirgel proved with this podium that he certainly has the skill to compete with the KZ drivers. His team-mates from the official Sodikart team were not far behind, with Senna Van Walstijn 4th and Jean Nomblot 7th after strong progress. This bodes very well for the rest of the 2025 season," added Paul Bizalion.
Ranked 5th and 6th respectively, Maksim Orlov (who set the fastest lap of the race) and Dion Van Werven completed this magnificent grouping, while Dominik Simek placed a sixth Sodi Sigma chassis in the top 10.
