A record year for Easykart.
With last weekend's Winter Trophy in Castelletto, an exciting season came to an end with record numbers for the Easykart world: over 160 drivers took to the track during the seven rounds of the Easykart Trophy and more than 180 Easy drivers gave life to the International Grand Final number 22!
Lots of emotions, entertainment, uncertain races and twists also on the occasion of the Winter Trophy, the last event of the season - a very important moment to put the first 2024 solutions on track and for the final farewells in view of the (short) winter break.
Returning to action, the winners of the 2023 Winter Trophy were Alessandro Cereda (Easykart 60), Andrii Kruglyk (Easykart 100), Riccardo Pollastri (Easykart 125) and Timothy Grandi (BMB Challenge).
Easykart 60 Academy: lots of enthusiasm for the Winter Trophy too
With their liveliness they animated the Easykart paddock in all the events and the Winter Trophy made no exceptions. The drivers present participated in the event with the classic format that has always distinguished this category: the theoretical meeting held by the instructor Sabino De Castro which was followed by the sessions on the track and the awards ceremony on the podium in Castelletto. A record season also for the Academy!
Easykart 60: first success for Alessandro Cereda
Alessandro Cereda achieved his first success in his second participation in Easykart: author of the pole position by just 51 thousandths of a second, Cereda achieved victory in the Sprint Race after a sprint finish and confirmed himself as the fastest even in the most important race, the Final: Alessandro won, in fact, with an advantage of just 408 thousandths of a second over Nicolas De Bortoli, fantastic second, and 585 over Tommaso D'Ambrosio, excellent third. On the enlarged podium Giovanni Ripoli and Edoardo Galimberti, fourth and fifth respectively. The fastest lap was set by De Bortoli.
Easykart 100: Andrii Kruglyk wins on debut
New category, old winner. After dominating in 60cc, Andrii Kruglyk made his debut in 100c by taking the top step of the podium in the most important race of the day. After achieving pole position in qualifying with over a tenth of an advantage, Kruglyk first had to give up the victory in the Prefinal, but then made up for it in the Final by winning a heart-pounding race, after overtakes and counter-overtakes, by just 76 thousandths of a second over Gabriel Cuoco - triumphant in the Sprint Race. Alessio Silvestri (third), Gabriele Magistro (fourth after recovering six positions) and Christian Miori (fifth after recovering nine places) took the podium. Fastest lap for Gabriel Cuoco.
Easykart 125: Riccardo Pollastri triumphs!
Riccardo Pollastri vs Alessandro De Gaetano. This was the challenge that ignited the race day in this category. De Gaetano was, in fact, the fastest in qualifying practice and crossed the finish line first in the Sprint Race. In the Final, however, Pollastri demonstrated greater competitiveness and this allowed him to achieve another triumph in his career: behind him Alessandro De Gaetano, who is a candidate as one of the protagonists to beat next year. On the third step of the podium Marco Pirovano, fastest lap for De Gaetano.
BMB Challenge: Timothy Grandi brings home his first victory
A very exciting and hard-fought day of racing from the first laps of the warm-up with eight drivers within less than half a second, a gap that dropped to 391 thousandths of a second during qualifying practice. The fastest time of the session was achieved by the Swiss Timothy Grandi by just eleven thousandths of a second over second place, while the winner in the Sprint Race was Valentino Baracco. Heart-pounding Final full of dramatic twists and turns: Valentino Baracco was the first to cross the finish line, but a five-second penalty for the front fairing knocked him down to second place. The winner was Timothy Grandi, signing his first success in BMB Challenge, while Andrea Calabrese took the third step of the podium. Fastest lap for Baracco.
With the Winter Trophy, the curtain fell on the Easykart season: not only record numbers, but many emotions experienced at each event. In our paddock it is not just a question of hundredths of a second, speed and numbers, but also of the "human factor", of emotions. Moments of sharing in the paddock, of friendships, of aperitifs, of feelings, of joy for a good result, of anger at a race to forget, of interviews, of photos, of dancing during the DJ set, of fireworks and everything that makes our paddock unique and that makes us fall in love with our inimitable sport every time.
If the paddock now goes on holiday for the winter break, the off-the-track activity never stops. There are many new features in view of 2024, above all the provisional calendar presented over the weekend. The Easykart Trophy will be made up of seven events, with date one on February 25 in Castelletto di Branduzzo, which will be preceded by the collective tests the previous weekend. The Easykart paddock will then stop on March 24 in Jesolo, on April 14 in Cremona, on May 12 in Lonato, on June 9 in Viterbo, on July 28 in Castelletto, on September 8 and 9 with collective tests in Franciacorta and with the final round on October 6 again in Franciacorta, the track that will host the 23rd International Final the following weekend. The Winter Trophy will return on December 1 in Cremona and the Easykart paddock will visit Wackersdorf for the Euro Trophy by Easykart. (Full news coming soon).
Many other new features will be announced shortly, such as the new category that will be introduced next year (announcement imminent). Without forgetting the publication on the official Easykart social channels of the videos made under the tents of the teams recorded during the entire season.
See you soon on the track. Stay racing, stay happy… and think Easy!
