International season for KZ categories begins in Valencia
TKART Staff
08 May 2025

This weekend on the Valencia track is scheduled Round 1 of the Champions of the Future KZ and KZ2, the two-event series that will act as a prologue to the Fia European Championship of the Shifter categories (scheduled in 15 days in Valencia) and with the 2nd and final Round will act as a pre-race to the Fia World Championship of the KZ categories on the Franciacorta track in Italy next October.

For the KZ classes it is a seasonal debut at international level after the first outings at the beginning of the season in the WSK meetings in Italy, but in this case they will race with the same tyres as the FIA events (Dunlop) and the comparison will be very reliable to evaluate the potential favourites for the Fia meetings. For the drivers and technicians it will be a very intense and demanding weekend to test set-ups and technical materials. The weather is expected to be good for the whole weekend and this factor will certainly facilitate the work of the teams, but also the show on the track considering the extraordinary level of the drivers, especially in the top class.

The CRG Racing Team in the KZ category will line up Viktor Gustavsson who, like the entire official team, will use TM engines managed on track by Gianfranco Galiffa. In KZ2 the official CRG drivers will be Paavo Tonteri, who has been with the official team for 4 seasons, the confirmed Alvar Siimesvaara and Krozser Menyhert. The event program includes the finals on Saturday, then qualifying will be on Thursday and the elimination heats on Friday. To follow the races, Live Timing and Live Streaming are active on the website www.championskarting.com

The expectations of Team Principal, Jeremy Iglesias: “During the first months of the year, no one had the chance to work much with the Dunlop tyres, so this weekend in view of the 1st Round of the European Championship we will focus a lot on balance and degradation. The tests carried out so far have always confirmed the versatility of our chassis and the feedback from the drivers has always been very positive. These races always require a particular approach, because on the one hand we do them to prepare for the most important event of the following week, but at the same time the drivers always aim for performance and we all want to get a good result. For the drivers in the KZ categories it will be the first important outing of the season and therefore there will be many unknowns, but as far as we are concerned we have some fundamental points of the team that give us great guarantees, from the experience of our drivers, to the partnership with TM and Gianfranco Galiffa who always offer us high-level support.”
