Official Parolin Racing Kart team driver James Wharton has just experienced 10 days of incredibly intense racing. No sooner had he finished with the OK European Championship, where he continued to show his talent, the young Australian travelled from Germany to Italy to take part in the last two events of the WSK Euro Series organised over six days! Demonstrating both his physical and mental strength, he fought constantly at the front of the field and managed to finish 7th overall out of a total of 57 participants, thanks to two consecutive 9th places.
Deprived of competition for several months due to the pandemic, James Wharton continues to make up for lost time. "Compared to OK-Junior where I competed last year, the OK category is even more competitive and challenging," admits the 14-year-old Australian. "The experience is essential and each new race allows me to progress and get closer to the best". This was again the case during the week of the WSK Euro Series at the South Garda Karting of Lonato.
LEADER OF THE PAROLIN CLAN
Conscious that he has an important role to play in the Parolin Racing Kart team where he was again the leader, James Wharton started his meeting brilliantly: 4th in Qualifying and two victories in the Qualifying Heats. Unfortunately, a problem prevented him from taking part in one of them, so that he had to be satisfied with 11th place in the intermediate classification. The second round of the WSK Euro Series ended in a very competitive Final, with a 9th place after all the work.
At the same time, James also took part in the third round of this competition where he once again faced the best representatives of the OK category. "You shouldn't question yourself and try to give the best of yourself as soon as you get on the track. I am a competitor determined to reach the best possible place, whatever the event." James Wharton managed the pressure perfectly and made no mistakes at Lonato, managing to keep his speed from the beginning to the end, without losing sight of the importance of strategy. Ranked 7th in Qualifying Practice, 7th after the Qualifying Heats and 3rd in his Prefinal, the Australian made a perfect start in 2nd position. "Unfortunately, I lost a little bit of performance as the laps went by. My opponents took advantage of it and I couldn't do any better than 9th."
However, his consistency gives him 7th place in the overall WSK Euro Series standings. "I was 9th in this competition in the Junior class in 2019. So this is more progress for me. This is another positive result with the World Championship on the horizon."
