Pole and victory for Vortex at the European in Italy

In the last round of the FIA Karting European Championship for the OK-OKJ classes at the Franciacorta Karting Track, the DJT engine achieves the best time in the qualifying and success in the final of the “Junior” category. Bronze medal in the championship for the DST unit in the "Senior" category.

OKJ – Our DJT engine conquers its second success in the European Championship on the occasion of the last round at Franciacorta. The qualifying sessions were immediately marked by excellent performances, with Jimmy Helias (Tony Kart Racing Team) taking the overall pole position in the "Junior" category, which sees some 80 starters. In the combined classification, five other drivers with Vortex engines take a place in the Top 10, confirming the absolute speed qualities that the DJT engine can offer. The lead during the qualifying heats is even more marked: out of the 15 races scheduled, 10 victories and 7 fastest laps are gained by the DJT unit, to which a success and a best lap in the two super heats on Sunday morning have to be added.

Almost 40% of the starting grid for the final see competitors powered by Vortex-branded DJT engines. In a race full of twists and turns and tight battles, Jan Przyrowski (Tony Kart Racing Team) does nothing wrong and puts his first ever seal on a round of the European Championship, as well as finishing second in the championship. The exceptional racing skills of Vortex allow Thomas Strauven (Ricky Flynn Motorsport), Marcus Saeter (Ward Racing), Marcel Kasprzycki (Ward Racing) and Guy Albag (Ward Racing) to climb up the classification considerably and all four of them end the race in the Top 10: altogether, they gain 81 positions.

In the final we also find Elliot Kaczynski (Ward Racing), Alp Hasan Aksoy (Tony Kart Racing Team), Maria Germano Neto (Tony Kart Racing Team), Dmitry Matveev (Koski Motorsport), Guillaume Bouzar (Koski Motorsport), Enzo Tarnvanichkul (Tony Kart Racing Team), Kirill Dzitiev (Ward Racing), Salim Hanna (Ward Racing) and Helias at the start.

Over the entire championship, Vortex scores 2 victories (out of 4) in the finals, 5 (out of 8) in the super heats and 29 in the qualifying heats (almost half of the heats run), as well as an en-plein in qualifying with 4 pole positions. These figures confirm the excellent competitiveness of the DJT engine in the "Junior" category of single-gear karts.

OK - Our DST engine misses out on the European title by just 3 points in the master class of single-gear karts. Joseph Turney (Tony Kart Racing Team) comes to Italy as leader of the standings, on the strength of two victories in the first two rounds at Portimao (Portugal) and Zuera (Spain). Unfortunately, the Briton finds several obstacles in his way at the weekend and is forced to settle for the Top 3 in the European Championship, after having already won the WSK Super Master Series and Champions of the Future Euro Series titles this season.

In the final, space for the duo made up of David Walther (Koski Motorsport) and Tuukka Taponen (Tony Kart Racing Team). The Danish driver, author of a victory in the qualifying heats and among the fastest in the warm-ups on Saturday and Sunday morning, plays for a place on the podium until the last metre and finishes fourth by a matter of a few tenths of a second. For his part, the reigning OK world champion - winner of Sunday morning's Super Heat A - keeps up with his rivals ahead of him, but does not find the necessary hurry to finish higher in the standings. Significant comeback of 12 positions for James Egozi (Tony Kart Racing Team), the third of the Vortex drivers classified in the top ten.

The final ranking continues with the placings of Oscar Pedersen (Ward Racing), Albin Stureson (JP Racing), Freddie Slater (Ricky Flynn Motorsport), Eemili Koivisto (Koski Motorsport), Ean Eyckmans (EGP Racing Team), Caspian Hagman (Ward Racing) and Luigi Coluccio (Tony Kart Racing Team).

The final season's haul for the DST engine in the "Senior" category is truly remarkable, with 2 victories (out of 4) in the final and 27 successes in the qualifying heats (about 45% of the heats run).
