The South Garda Karting of Lonato is gearing up to welcome nearly 300 drivers that will challenge each other in the 33rd Andrea Margutti Trophy. Since 1990 a lot of champions have been crowned in this event and several of them climbed up the motorsport ladder all the way to Formula 1.

The 33rd Andrea Margutti Trophy is at the starting blocks at the South Garda Karting Circuit of Lonato for a record-breaking event counting nearly 300 drivers entered in the MINI, OKJ, KZ2, X30 Junior and X30 Senior categories. This is a great historic event run in the memory of the young Andrea Margutti that, starting from its first edition, back in 1990, saw several successful motorsport drivers coming to the fore before becoming professional Formula 1 drivers.

Among the big names, Giancarlo Fisichella won editions 1990, 1991, 1992 and 1994, Robert Kubica secured the victory in 1999 and Daniil Kvyat in 2009, but a lot of other karting champions have been successful in this event too. The fast driver Sophie Kumpen, who is also Max Verstappen’s mum, won edition 1995 of the Trophy in the most powerful category of the time, Formula A.

The five times Karting World Champion Danilo Rossi also took part in the event as other big names that are or have been successful Formula 1 drivers in their career like Jarno Trulli, Jenson Button, Vitantonio Liuzzi, Fernando Alonso, Giorgio Pantano, Kimi Raikkonen, Nico Rosberg, Lewis Hamilton, Sebastian Vettel, Nico Hulkenberg, Kevin Magnussen, Jules Bianchi, Antonio Giovinazzi, Carlos Sainz Jr., Lando Norris, George Russell, Charles Leclerc, Lance Stroll, and a lot of other important racers.
