Vortex: second consecutive podium in the European OK-OKJ champ
TKART Staff
29 May 2023

On the occasion of round 2 of the FIA Karting European Championship in Třinec (Czech Republic), OTK Kart Group's 'engine division' takes third place overall in the Senior category with the VTS engine.

OK – The VTS engine is soon at the top of the standings thanks to David Walther's (Koski Motorsport) third place in Friday's qualifying session, while in the following qualifying heats it collects a total of 2 victories and 5 podiums. Totally, the line-up for the final is about 25% Vortex, with three drivers qualified in the top ten.

Emerging in the final race of the weekend is Sebastiano Pavan (Tony Kart Racing Team), author of an excellent start (with four positions gained in just two laps) and able to set a pace in the race that is unreachable by most of his rivals. Thanks to a constant action, he achieves the third final place, his second this season after the one conquered on the occasion of the WSK Super Master Series at Cremona. At the top of the ranking, we also find Ean Eyckmans (Ward Racing), good in defending himself from the attacks of his rivals and in reaching the Top 5.

The high performance of the VTS engine allows Alvar Siimesvaara (Ward Racing) to climb not less than 13 positions in the ranking and finish the final close to the Top 15. Space on the track also for Jan Przyrowski (Tony Kart Racing Team), Arthur Poulain (Tony Kart Racing Team) and Marcus Saeter (Ward Racing), while Walther is unfortunately involved in an accident at the first corner. Guillaume Bouzar (Koski Motorsport) also takes part in the final.

OKJ - The circuit of Třinec does not bring luck to the Vortex VTJ unit, although the "blue" engines conquer the third best time already in qualifying, in Group 1, with Maria Germano Neto (Tony Kart Racing Team), and a second place as the best result in the qualifying heats (for a total of five podiums). As in the Senior category, the Junior final also sees 25% of the drivers at the start equipped with OTK Kart Group 'engine division' units.

Thanks to a sharp and error-free performance, Scott Kin Lindblom (Tony Kart Racing Team) gains position after position during the last race of the weekend and crosses the finish line in the Top 10. Good comebacks also the ones performed by Mees Houben (Ward Racing) and Kimi Tani (Ward Racing): 5 and 6 positions respectively. After being constantly in the top positions of the classification during the whole weekend, Maria Germano Neto gets involved in some brawls that do not allow her to close the Czech round in the best possible way.

The ranking goes on with Oliver Kinnmark (Koski Motorsport), Alfie Slater (Ricky Flynn Motorsport) and Davide Bottaro (Tony Kart Racing Team). Bad luck for Salim Hanna (Ricky Flynn Motorsport) and Elliot Kaczynski (Ward Racing): the race of both drivers ends due to an accident at the start.
