After the World success of Campillos in OK, Vortex also signs the first place in the OKJ final of the Winter Cup in Lonato with the very fast Freddie Slater (Ricky Flynn Motorsport), followed by two other drivers powered by our engines. Pole position and second place in the OK category.
OKJ - The "Junior" class sees Vortex's DJT engines as the great protagonists, since the qualifying sessions already. Maksimilian Popov (Ward Racing) and James Egozi (Tony Kart Racing Team) set the two best times in their respective groups and, as a result, gain the first two positions of the overall ranking. During the qualifying heats, Popov collects a victory; Egozi performs even better and puts his name in first position three times. Other successes follow with Freddie Slater (Ricky Flynn Motorsport), with two wins, and Kirill Dzitiev (Ward Racing), with one.
At the end of the qualifying heats, the names of Slater and Popov stand out in the first two positions, but only the European Champion and Vice World Champion also wins the Super Heat. In the final, a race in which more than 30% of the engines on the starting grid are Vortex branded, Slater jumps perfectly from pole position and, taking advantage of the wet track and his driving skills in difficult conditions, immediately takes the lead. The British driver is uncatchable and wins alone, with the Winter Cup Top 3 completed by two other Vortex-powered drivers: Marcus Saeter (Ward Racing), second, and Jan Przyrowski (Tony Kart Racing Team), third. Popov finishes among the best five, while Dzitiev and Egozi reach the Top 10: in particular, the American is not lucky in the fourth qualifying heat and in the Super Heat, where he is forced to stop, but in the final he is able to recover not less than eight positions compared to the starting grid. On the starting grid of the final we also find, in this order, Dmitry Matveev (Koski Motorsport), Enzo Tarnvanichkul (Tony Kart Racing Team), Oscar Wurz (Tony Kart Racing Team), Griffin Peebles (Koski Motorsport) and Giacomo Pedrini (Newman Motorsport). Jimmy Helias (Tony Kart Racing Team) and Dion Gowda (Ricky Flynn Motorsport) do not finish the race.
OK - Vortex is the fastest engine also in the qualifying session of the premier class of single-speed karting. In fact, the DST engine takes pole position on Friday with Karol Pasiewicz (Ward Racing) thanks to a lap of 46.584. Moreover, the Polish driver does not disappoint expectations by gaining first place in the two qualifying heats of the day. Pasiewicz continues his excellent weekend with a third win during the heats and confirms his leadership at the end of Saturday. Unfortunately, a rainstorm falls on the Lonato track and puts Pasiewicz in trouble: in the decisive final, the Ward Racing driver spins at the first lap and has to leave his kart at the side of the track. Artem Severiukhin (Ward Racing) and Markus Kajak (Ward Racing) show a good performance: in the last laps the Russian driver tries to overtake the leader of the race, failing. The two teammates get respectively the second and the third final position, while Ruiqi Liu (Tony Kart Racing Team) moves up 4 positions and ends up inside the Top 10. Marco Ravera (Newman Motorsport) also does well, 12th.
Mini ROK - On the weekend of Lonato, the spotlights were also on the Mini ROK engines of Vortex, with its own dedicated class and a good 53 drivers at the start. The victory in the final goes to the Swiss Kilian Josseron (Team Driver Racing Kart), ahead of the Belgian Dries van Langendonck (Av Racing), second, and the Russian Matvey Dergunov (Revolution Motor Sport), third.
