WSK Promotion/LeCont: A successful partnership continues

12 February 2024

The WSK Super Master Series is one of the most famous international competitions in Europe and the manufacturer LeCont is delighted that its partnership with this prestigious series has been renewed, with a new presence in the OK category at the start of the season. Particularly competitive, the drivers in this category demand a high level of performance and LeCont tyres perfectly met their expectations when the series opened in Lonato.

The last few months have been particularly important for LeCont with the arrival of a new range of tyres approved by the FIA's International Karting Commission. The new 'Prime' tyre used in the OK category was christened 'LPM', while the rain version was called 'LWR'. While performance was once again a determining factor in the development and design of these tyres, consistency and regularity have been further improved.

At the WSK Super Master Series from January 24 to January 28, there were even more drivers than at the Champions Cup, with a total of 318 entries and no fewer than 50 competitors in OK. Luca De Donno and his WSK Promotion team can only be applauded for the success of this high-level competition. With a higher ground temperature than a week earlier and a track offering better grip, lap times improved by several hundredths. At Lonato's South Garda Karting, Great Britain's Lewis Wherrell set the fastest lap of the Final in 46"580, but Ukraine's Oleksandr Bondarev retained the event record of 46"478 at an average speed of almost 93 km/h, set when taking pole position. Bondarev even managed a lap of 46"190 during Saturday morning's warm-up session. Even throughout the heats and Prefinals, the times remained very competitive, with moderate tyre wear despite the kilometres covered.

LeCont congratulates all the drivers in the OK category and their teams for the show they put on, with a special mention for the three drivers and the best team manager who collected their trophies on the podium: the winner Oleksandr Bondarev, accompanied by Flavio Andreatta from Prema Racing, Sebastiano Pavan (P2) and Ean Eyckmans (P3).

The WSK Super Master Series 2024 is well and truly underway. The following races are already shaping up to be very exciting to follow.
