On the Cremona circuit, reputed to be as demanding as the OK and KZ2 categories, the drivers needed high-performance, consistent tyres. Once again, LeCont demonstrated its professionalism and technological expertise. As a long-standing partner, the Italian manufacturer undeniably contributed to the success of the WSK Final Cup 2024 and, more broadly, to that of all the series organised by WSK Promotion with which it was associated.
Excellent lap times despite the cold
From 22nd to 24th November, temperatures remained very cool in Lombardy, with the thermometer failing to rise above 10°. Despite these conditions, the drivers enjoyed plenty of grip, which enabled them to enjoy themselves and ensure that the races were of a high standard, and always very lively. In OK, Rocco Coronel took pole position in 47.164, but Niklas Schaufler did even better in one heat, setting the absolute fastest time of the meeting in the category in 47.140 at an average speed of 92.4 kph. In doing so, the Austrian improved on the fastest time set during the FIA Karting European Championship, even though it was held in very hot weather in July 2023.
The KZ2 category was even faster. Pole position went to Dmitry Matveev in 46.470, before Maxim Orlov set the fastest time of the weekend in all categories in 46.325 at an average speed of 94 kph.
A positive end to the WSK season for LeCont
Champions Cup, Super Master Series, Euro Series and Final Cup: nine events where LeCont managed the supply of OK category tyres impeccably, with attentive service at the circuits. WSK Promotion also placed its trust in the Rovereto-based manufacturer for KZ2 in the Open Series and Final Cup. This represents four additional competitions and a total of 642 registered drivers who benefited from the 'Prime' tyres manufactured with precision and consistency.
Orlov and Van Langendonck crowned after the suspense
After the victory of Estonian Markus Kajak in Lonato, it was Czech driver Marek Skrivan who had taken the lead in the KZ2 series. In the end, Maxim Orlov took the title thanks to his success in Cremona ahead of Dutchman Kasper Schormans and Germany's David Trefilov, the 2024 runner-up.
In OK, the Final was no picnic for Belgium's Dries Van Langendonck, but the points he scored in Cremona and his victory in Lonato gave him his first OK crown ahead of Austria's Niklas Schaufler and Italy's Sebastiano Pavan. The young Dutchman Rocco Coronel concluded the season victoriously ahead of Schaufler and Scotland's Zac Drummond.
The perfect performance of LeCont tyres undoubtedly made for a WSK Final Cup marked by great sporting talent and utmost fairness.
