It's not official yet, but TKART can reveal that OMP Racing has acquired BELL Racing Helmets Group, a leading company in the production of top-of-the-range motorsport helmets, whose brand was founded in California in 1954 by Roy Richter.
The acquisition was strongly wanted and then finalized by Paolo Delprato himself, President and CEO of OMP and who in 2008, together with his brother Alberto, acquired OMP from its founders, the Percivale family (hence the name OMP - Officine Meccaniche Percivale) .
Over the past ten years Paolo Delprato and his team have implemented a total business turnaround of the company based in Ronco Scrivia (GE), leading it to establish itself as an industry leader. The acquisition of Bell Racing Helmets Group demonstrates how the managers of OMP are willing to bet further on motorsport, engaging in a major new investment in a long-term vision of the business.
The merge between OMP and Bell Racing Helmets Group creates a multinational company that undoubtedly places itself as a global leader in the field of racing gear and safety components for motorsport. Just to give an example, today OMP already provides security systems, among others, to the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport Formula 1 team, while Bell is the helmet brand used by Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc, as well as by most Formula 1 and Formula E riders.
In the coming days, more details on the acquisition will be disclosed, but today we can say that Italian motorsport industry, thanks to OMP, is consolidating its leading position at international level.
