Take an Oscar nominated actor, bring him to one of Europe's most impressive international race tracks, give him a kart and have him drive all he wants.
The greatest merit actually goes to Alberto Vergani, President of Nolan and back in the day manager of drivers Marco Melandri and Carlos Checa and "orchestrator" of F1 driver Ivan Capelli's ascent to Ferrari.
He is the one who got the whole thing started, when he called us up one day:
“You're not going to believe this! Michael Fassbender - you know, the movie star - is coming to Italy for a couple of days and since he's a kart lover - yes, you heard right - he'd like to do some rounds. Can we organize something?”
Said, done!
We immediately got the ball rolling and a few days later there we were, at the 7 Laghi Circuit, standing with the actor who was already sizzling to get into his race gear, like a kid who's about to make his dream come true, glad to give up the red carpet for some hard concrete.
He steps into a non-shifter kart and it doesn't take long for us to realize that he's no stranger to this sport.
