TKART had anticipated it (here is the cited article: "Exclusive: here is the new rear protection for karts required by the FIA") and confirmation has promptly arrived: the FIA has developed and decided to introduce a new "anti-launch" rear bumper. The first test of this device, to verify its effective functioning during a race, took place during the final round of the FIA Karting Academy Trophy-Junior, in Cremona (Italy) last September. And the results have encouraged the Federation to introduce it as early as March 2026. However, the reaction from participants to this innovation has been anything but enthusiastic. As soon as the news was published, a wave of criticism was unleashed in the comments section of our Facebook and Instagram accounts within hours, even before the device actually made its debut on the track. Some expressed concern that the introduction of these devices would result in yet another increase in karting costs; others called the solution superfluous, believing that karts already have far too many fairings. Furthermore, some noted that adding additional protection risks making Racing karts increasingly resemble Rental models. It must be said that, nowadays, criticism on social media is often the most immediate and widespread reaction, as well as gratuitous, even in the face of laudable initiatives like the FIA's aim to improve safety in karting. But, as we know, human beings tend to be reluctant to embrace innovation (there are even specific theories on the subject: search for "Status Quo Bias" or "Innovation Resistance Theory" on your favorite search engine). However, it's also true that perhaps we shouldn't fall into the opposite danger, that of being forced to change things. And, above all, quickly.
