The hubs are those components which connect the wheel’s rims to the kart’s axle. They play an important role both in providing flexibility and in dissipating the rims’ heat.
The new AMV hubs are especially innovative as they feature a series of 9 holes on the side that rests against the rim and they are inclined in an outwards design. Tommaso Stefanello, owner of the Veneto-based company, explains the reasons for this advanced design: “The holes are designed to allow a superior dissipation of the heat, a very important aspect for the tires’ performance. Coupled with the 9F rims 9F , while the kart runs on the track, the hubs create an heat extraction effect, which improves the heat exchange rate, thus reducing the tires’ overheating and contributing to maintaining a more constant internal pressure throughout the race”.
Another improvement of the 9F hubs is the small screw added with the function of acting as a pivot when the central fastening screw is unscrewed. This solution has made it possible to manufacture 50 mm hubs with a slightly smaller diameter which perfectly adheres to the axle, unlike the classic hubs that only adhere on the inside where the screws are located while remaining slightly wider on the other side. This minimizes the oscillation which decreases the axle stiffness at its most external point.
Additionally, a smaller diameter makes it much more difficult for the hubs to retract inwards as it often happens on the track when the surface of the track is uneven.
"The new 9F rear hubs are the result of the most advanced technological development achieved in many years of research and production. In addition to technical features, an important advancement is the introduction of the OXiTECH treatment which allows the hub to remain in perfect condition over time without altering the quality of the magnesium ".
