The year 2024 was particularly significant for Sodikart, as the French manufacturer won, for the first time in its history, the most prestigious title of the entire season in the Shifter category: the FIA Karting World Championship KZ. As has been the case since 2012, the 2024 edition of the competition was held in a single round, taking place from October 10 to 13 at the Kartódromo Internacional do Algarve in Portimão, Portugal. The circuit's layout includes a long high-speed section that begins at the final corner and ends in a decisive braking zone at the conclusion of the first sector. This is followed by two very technical sectors, featuring tight hairpin bends and short straights. The track configuration, particularly challenging for overtaking in the Shifter classes, combined with the single-race format, demanded precision, adaptability, and an error-free approach from drivers, teams, and mechanics. Weather conditions added an extra layer of difficulty. Rainfall on Friday and Saturday significantly influenced the sessions, complicating the work for everyone involved. However, the final on Sunday was held under sunny skies with temperatures exceeding 20°C, during which drivers used Dunlop DH H tyres in the dry, while Dunlop KT14 W15 tyres were deployed in wet conditions. These weather fluctuations emphasized the importance of technical and strategic adaptability, essential for achieving strong results. In this challenging context, the Sodi Racing Team stood out. Senna Van Walstijn secured pole position in the qualifiers, while Giuseppe Palomba, equally competitive in both dry and wet conditions, started from fourth position on the grid for Sunday’s final. After a thrilling and fiercely contested race filled with unexpected turns, Palomba emerged victorious, crossing the finish line ahead of his teammate Van Walstijn, achieving a historic 1-2 finish for Sodikart. Thanks to support from the Sodikart racing department, we gained insight into the accessories used by Palomba during the final. He competed with the Sodikart Sigma KZ, a chassis featuring a body constructed with 30 mm diameter tubes, which played a key role in the team's outstanding performance.

Hubs

During the final in Portimão, the 2024 world champion Sodikart Sigma KZ was equipped with Tekneex hubs—Tekneex being the division of the French manufacturer specializing in kart accessories, which are also standard with chassis purchases. Specifically, Palomba's kart featured the D25 front hubs and D50 rear hubs, both measuring 90 mm in length and made of aluminium.

  • Tekneex D25 front wheel hub in aluminum Ø 25 x 90 mm: approximately 60 euros (for the single accessory) (VAT excluded)
  • Tekneex D25 rear wheel hub in aluminum Ø 50 x 90 mm: approximately 56 euros (for the single accessory) (VAT excluded)
