THE ACCESSORIES (AND DETAILS) OF THE SODIKART SIGMA KZ BY CPB SPORT, WINNER OF THE 2025 FIA KARTING WORLD CUP KZ2

The FIA Karting World Cup is the most important event of the season for KZ2. It is a single-race event, in which everything is decided in one weekend: even the slightest mistake can compromise the result, making it essential to arrive at the track with a competitive technical package combined with the ability of drivers and teams to adapt quickly to any variables. The event took place from October 9 to 12, 2025, at the Franciacorta Karting Track in Castrezzato (Italy), a facility inaugurated in 2020. The track is fast and winding, with three really challenging braking points (turns 2, 5, and 14) and a configuration that does not facilitate overtaking, especially in categories with gearboxes. The weekend took place entirely in dry conditions, with clear skies and temperatures between 15°C and 20°C. Participation was remarkable, with 125 drivers at the start. Maksim Orlov, CPB Sport driver, dominated the race weekend with a virtually perfect performance: pole position, victory in all qualifying heats, first place in the pre-final and the final triumph in the final (complete with fastest lap), with a lead of almost five seconds over the runner-up. This achievement completes an extraordinary two-year period for Sodikart: after winning the FIA Karting World Championship KZ in 2024 and 2025, the French manufacturer has added this trophy to its list of achievements, which had been missing since 2019 (at that time it was called the FIA Karting International Super Cup, the title changed only in 2022). Thanks to the collaboration with Jean-Philippe Guignet, Racing Manager at Sodikart, we were able to analyze in detail the accessories and technical solutions adopted on Orlov's Sodikart Sigma KZ (a chassis with a frame made of 30 mm diameter tubes), powered by a TM Kart KZ-R2 engine prepared by Sani Competition and equipped with LeCont LMP CIK Prime tires.

Chassis

For the shifter classes, the Sodikart range offers only one chassis model: the Sigma KZ. This model features a frame constructed entirely of 30 mm diameter tubes—whereas shifter classes typically use 32 mm diameters or a mixed 30/32 mm configuration—in chrome-molybdenum steel, although further specifications on the materials used have not been disclosed by the manufacturer. Jean-Philippe Guignet, Racing Manager at Sodikart, explains the reasons for this configuration: "Our chassis dedicated to the shifter classes is an 'all 30', unlike other manufacturers. For us, this type of solution is easier to manage during the production phase, especially during the welding process. We have tried various solutions over the years, but the 30 mm frame has always given the best results, which is why we continued to work in that direction." Guignet finally adds that in terms of performance: "The Sigma KZ has proven to be very versatile. It works well in all conditions—circuit layout, grip, and tires—and that's why we didn't feel the need to change. The results, after all, speak for themselves."
