Do the set calibrations provide you with undesirable results? Is the engine not revving as it should? Does carburation require different adjustments with every lap? These are just some of the messages that your diaphragm carburetor could send to let you know that it is time to go to the workbench and give it a complete overhaul. Not sure where to start, but want to save money that would otherwise be given to your trusted mechanic? Do not despair, you are in the right place. In an article dedicated to the "Doctor Kart" section of the magazine, we have taken care of listing and describing all the steps (as well as all the tools) necessary to correctly disassemble, check, and reassemble this component. We then recommended which accessories are essential when you have this type of carburetor. To learn more, read “Must have | 4 accessories for the diaphragm carburetor”. Now, in this “Must Have” article, we will indicate which spare parts you need to rebuild your diaphragm carburetor.

SET OF GASKETS AND DIAPHRAGMS

Diaphragms (and related gaskets) are the foundation of the operation on these types of carburetors (to find out all about this component, read “Tech Talk | The Diaphragm Carburetor”). In order to avoid malfunctions or unwanted breakdowns, it is necessary to ensure they are always in excellent condition. Diaphragms are subjected to continuous stresses during track sessions and, being made of a polymeric material, they tend to wear out quickly over time, deforming and losing elasticity. The suggested kit is suitable for overhauling carburetors of the most popular brands in karting (Tillotson, Tryton, Ibea, etc.). It consists of two diaphragms (main “dosing” diaphragm and fuel pump diaphragm) with two gaskets (one for each diaphragm). The advice, given the usually low cost of a set of spare parts, is to replace these elements frequently, so as to be protected from any kind of unexpected event.
