KART CONVERGENCE: TRUTHS (AND LIES!) ABOUT ITS ADJUSTMENT AND INFLUENCE ON PERFORMANCE - PART 1 OF 2
Toe-in is a key parameter in defining kart set-up because it affects both performance and tire wear (read “Technique | Toe-in” for more details). Correctly adjusting toe-in is important to achieve a good driving feel and, more importantly, to optimize the performance of your kart. On the contrary, poorly adjusted camber can cost you a lot in terms of lap time. This is why this is a hotly debated topic among karters and about which many paddock legends hover. To confirm (or deny) them, we turned to one of the leading personalities in the world of karting, Dino Chiesa: founder and owner of Kart Republic, in his career he has been team manager and mentor of some drivers who have entered the Olympus of motorsport (Any names? Lewis Hamilton, Nico Rosberg...). We asked him 13 questions, here is the answer to the first 6!

Clarification: in this article (and in the subsequent second part) we will talk about “open,” “neutral,” or “closed” convergence. To understand what is meant, refer to the pictures below. The figures that are given, should be understood with the chassis placed on the ground.
The most accurate way to perform toe-in is with the kart on the trolley, so that the wheels are free to move during adjustment operations
