6 doubts (solved!) About kart seats - part 1 of 2

The seat is a component that plays a fundamental role in achieving the best possible performance. in fact, it has a direct affest on the correct weight distribution in the kart (the driver-seat combination is about half the total weight of the kart) and in regard to the search for the optimal set-up. So, if you wish to extract the maximum potential from your vehicle you will, without a shadow of a doubt, learn how to manage this component in the best possible way. Precisely for this reason TKART turned to Steve Tillett (owner of Tillett Racing Seats) and Aldo Fattore (owner of IMAF), to ask some questions and try to dispel some commonplace beliefs on this issue. The two answered 6 questions/doubts that all kart drivers ask themselves sooner or later:

1. FIRST OF ALL THE SEAT MUST BE ADJUSTED TO BE COMFORTABLE

2. MOVING THE SEAT, THEN VARYING THE WEIGHT DISTRIBUTION OF THE KART, HAS THE SAME EFFECT ON FAST AND LOWER BENDS

3. EVERY LITTLE DETAIL COUNTS, INCLUDING THE POSITION OF THE SEAT FASTENING BRACKETS

4. MOVING THE SEAT A FEW MILLIMETERS CHANGES THE KART SETUP CONSIDERABLY

5. FLAT BOTTOMS ARE THE IDEAL CHOICE IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR MAXIMUM PERFORMANCE FROM YOUR SEAT

6. THERE ARE DIFFERENT, AND VERY PRECISE, RULES THAT DETERMINE HOW A SEAT SHOULD BE MADE
