CIK-FIA 2022-2023

HOMOLOGATION
The KK chassis is certified with approval number 033-CH-05 starting from the 2022 season. The new FIA Karting regulations introduced in 2018 provide that new approvals last indefinitely, provided that the manufacturers renew their validity annually by paying the relative approval fee (To learn more, read, "Dossier | FIA approvals: what they are, what they are for, how long they last... the ultimate guide!").

DIRECT DRIVE AND SHIFTER

CONFIGURATION
KK is a chassis mainly dedicated to the Direct Drive classes (such as those established by FIA Karting for OK and OKJ, but also the main single-brand ones: Rotax Max Challenge, IAME Series, ROK Cup, etc.). However, a version of this chassis prepared for the use of Shifter engines can be purchased, equipped with everything necessary for mounting the gear lever. The purchase in the "gear" version makes dual use possible.

TUBES DIAMETER
The chassis are generally made with 30 and/or 32 mm tubes. The Lenzokart KK has a body composed entirely of tubes that are 30 mm in diameter and 2 mm thick.

WELDING
All the welding of this chassis is carried out manually by three operators working on as many jigs.

ACCESSORIES
As for accessories and components, the use of aluminium is preferred for the KK. However, Lenzokart offers its customers options (for example bearing flanges, hubs and rims) made of magnesium.

Our analysis of the Lenzokart range (renewed in 2022) is enhanced with a new chapter. After presenting the update of the MINI kart of the LK-Electric product line (to learn more, "First Analysis | Cayman LK-Electric M.Y.'23: a real mini by Lenzokart racing, but with an electric engine") and after a detailed analysis of the new Ramses chassis dedicated to the Shifter classes (to which we dedicated an article in the "Under examination" section), we have a detailed look at the KK chassis, mainly dedicated to the Direct Drive classes (which is why we will analyse it in this configuration) and CIK-FIA 033-CH-05 approved starting from 2022. Like the Ramses, the KK was developed starting from the consolidated bases, in terms of production processes and body geometries, matured by the Lenzokart R&D team for the production of the FX1 Evo (the previous approval model). The declared objective of the KK project, as we were told by Michele Lenzo, owner together with his father Nidi of Lenzokart and head of the Novalux team, the Lenzokart racing team, was to offer the public a chassis adaptable to the most diverse needs of kart drivers from all over the world.

We visited the headquarters of the Italian company and, thanks to the support of Lenzokart technicians, we tell you everything you need to know about the KK chassis, including the production processes, the functions offered and the innovative LKF 14 braking system.
The chassis is dedicated to Konstantin Kapetanidis (hence the acronym KK), a Novalux Racing Team driver who died following a motorcycle accident in August 2020.
