Absorbent paper in brake caliper relief valves

During race weekends (even more so at an event like the FIA Karting World Championship) it is a consolidated standard practice for all teams to purify the kart braking system at the end of each day. A fundamental activity to ensure that karts meet the highest standards both in terms of performance and safety. Following the purging it is essential to carry out a thorough cleaning of all the components of the system (brake pump, calipers and discs), to prevent residues of brake fluid, a product that is usually highly corrosive, from creating damage, affecting the performance of the entire system. However, under the CRG tent we noticed a real "refinement": the mechanics, after carrying out thorough cleaning, inserted pieces of rolled absorbent paper inside the holes of the brake calipers, thus making sure that drops of oil do not leak during the night.
